CYPRESS — The Coles Crossing commercial area around Barker Cypress Road and Hwy. 290 is slated to be the home of two new hotels and a Cheddar’s restaurant.

According to Felix Zamikovsky, broker for New Regional Planning, a real estate consulting firm that represents a commercial landowner at Coles Crossing, both the Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites purchased land on which to build new hotels.

Cypress is an area that is not saturated with hotels, even though the population has grown significantly over the past 10 years. Zamikovsky said the area could use two more hotels for extended stay visits and shorter-term visits.

The hotels will be built on approximately 4.7 acres of land. According to Zamikovsky, the Holiday Inn will have 137 rooms, and the Staybridge Suites will have 84 rooms.

In addition, Cheddar’s Casual Cafe, an American Restaurant, is currently under construction in the same area as the hotels.

Zamikovsky expects construction to begin on the hotels within the next 90 days, however, based on the hotel owner’s finances, construction could be delayed.
